Scientist - Gene Delivery and Editing Process DevelopmentLocation:
Seattle, WAWe are looking for a successful scientist who will
directly employ techniques for the in vitro production of
oligonucleotides , and biophysical and analytical tools to develop
our next-generation gene edited therapies . An outstanding
candidate will be driven by a desire to create, optimize, and
define novel processes that are not currently utilized by BMS. Key
Responsibilities:
- E xecute nucleic acid ligation reactions using splint ligation
methodology
- E xecute in vitro transcription reactions to produce RNA
- Execute downstream purification of crude RNA products using
anion exchange chromatography, reverse-phase (RP) chromatography,
and buffe r exchange unit operations
- E xecute ion-pairing RP chromatography assays to measure RNA
full-length product purity
- Execute native and denaturing PAGE (or capillary
electrophoresis , CE ) assays
- Execute Cas nuclease binding assays (fluorescence based) for
various gRNA constructs
- Actively participate and support lab maintenance and continuous
improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory notebook s and
documentation
- Summarize and present data in group meetings and contribute to
group discussions
- Author technical memos and reports Qualifications & Experience:
- STEM degree with 2+ years of relevant industry experience
- Experience working with, storing, and analyzing purified
nucleic acids and proteins
- Independently motivated , and possesses the ability to work
creatively with limited resources
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely through oral
presentation and technical writing
- Ability to leverage literature, and internal and external
resources to form hypotheses
- Degree in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, or
bio-related field, preferred
- Experience with optimizing molecular cloning reactions,
preferred
- Familiarity with bioinformatic tools used to predict RNA
secondary structure, preferred
- Experience with JMP for DoE design and analysis, preferred If

career. The starting compensation for this job is a range from
$97,000 - $121,000, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities
(based on eligibility). The starting pay rate takes into account
characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the
job is performed.Final, individual compensation will be decided
based on demonstrated experience. Eligibility for specific benefits
