Job Description:
Sr. Engines Project Engineer, Turbomachinery IPT
At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working
in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop
reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a
culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our diverse
team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of
spaceflight!
This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where
our focus is the design, development, manufacturing and testing of
engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family
of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for
commercial, civil, national security and human spaceflight.
As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will work
at the intersection of program management, engineering, supply
chain, test, manufacturing, and quality organizations, improving
team effectiveness and coordination, and ensuring that the right
people are working together to solve problems and deliver results
on time. Assignments can range from supporting subsystem
integration activities to component development and testing
coordination. In early project phases, you will define project
scope and schedule to achieve overall program goals and component
requirements. In later phases, you will coordinate internal and
external stakeholders, manage changes, and resolve unexpected
problems in support of subsystem builds, subsequent integration
into test facilities and spacecraft, and test activities.
As a Project Engineer within the Engines Design Office, you will
lead a passionate team of contributors and experts supporting the
Turbomachinery Integrated Product Team (IPT). In this role, you
will prioritize non-conformances, coordinate test rationale and
issue resolution, and serve as a liaison between the Program,
Engineering, Manufacturing, and Test. You will contribute to
driving design updates based on hardware inspections, coordinating
test activities for development & flight engines, leading pre/post
ship reviews, and help define and refine best practices to increase
the efficiency of our project execution, test, and inspection
approaches and processes. You may work or interface with vendors to
define requirements and manage supplier developments for procuring
hardware and assemblies, including working with vendors through
technical issues.
As a Project Engineer and primary point of contact, you must enjoy
solving communication and organizational problems, earning trust,
and improving the overall performance of all teams involved. We are
seeking a self-motivated and highly organized individual who can
work with minimal direction and coordinate teams in the successful
execution of engineering integration activities. This position will
directly impact the history of space exploration and will require
your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and
repeatable spaceflight.
