NuWest Travel Nursing is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU -
Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Olympia,
Washington.Job Description & Requirements
Address: 3900 Capital Mall Dr SW, Olympia, WA
107 beds
Beds:
ICU/PCU on the same unit
10 ICU beds
22 PCU beds
PCU nurses are not required to take ICU patient
ICU area but taking care of PCU patient
40 MST beds
Experience: 2 years
First-time traveler: > 2 years of PCU experience
Patient Types:
MST: Sepsis, Pneumonia, COPD, CHF, GI Bleeds, ETOH/IVDA, SI,
Psych,
ICU/PCU: COVID designated. Neuro: Stable CVA (no interventions),
TBI (stable)
Surgical Patients: Ortho, General Surgery
Manual Proning, Temporary Pacemakers
No Open Hearts, No Neuro intervention, No Dialysis, No CRRT
Covid & PPE:
N95 (single use, or single shift use), CAPRs, Face Shields
Patient Ratios:
MST Day 1:5-6 Night 1:7
PCU 1:4-5
ED Holding: Depends on the service line (PCU, MS)
Required Certifications:
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Skills required:
Telemetry/PCU - cardiac rhythm interpretation
ICU - Strong Peripheral IVs (preferred), Cardiac Rhythm
Interpretation, IV Medication Titration, Ventilation, high-flow and
BiPAP Management
Support on the Unit:
CNA (Ratio 1:10-12)
Charge nurse: Attempt to keep charge nurse as free-floating, but
charge nurse will take a partial patient assignment, depending on
staffing
Phlebotomy: Yes, you may be asked to assist with COVID peripheral
draw, if you are already in the room
RT 24/7
Hospitalist 24/7
OT, PT, ST
Unit Secretary
Charting System/Equipment:
EPIC (preferred experience)
BD Alaris
Pyxis Medication Dispensing
GE monitors
Central/bedside monitoring with tele tech
Floating:
Mid shift floating is possible
MST (3rd floor): 10 beds have tele monitoring
PCU (2nd floor)
Rare - LD or ER - not taking a patient assignment - helping
hands/resource/within scope of practice (vital signs/SI sitter)
ED holding: with work within scope of practice
Orientation:
4 hours of orientation with the clinical educator (get badge, login
information, unit tour, policies/procedures)
This will be during the day.
1-3 shifts on the unit based on needs to which unit you will be
oriented in
Rhythm Interpretation Exam required to be completed and passed
prior to start. SimpliFi Compliance is responsible for grading this
exam
Scheduling:
Based on staffing - plug and play
Weekend rotation - every other weekend, may work back to back
Will receive schedule up to 4 weeks at a time, will only show the
dates/shift the candidate is working.
Will need to go to House Supervisor office on the dates/shifts they
are working to know what unit they will be going to
Shift time starts:
Days: 0700-1900
Night: 1900-0700
Must be at the correct unit on time
Approve time off: Up to 7 days; any additional days please email
