role for you.We have an exciting opportunity for a Marine Surveyor
to join our team of Maritime experts in technically supporting all
marine casualties of any type and size worldwide.What you will be
doing.As our Marine Surveyor, you will conduct maritime surveying
tasks, assist in ensuring adequate surveyor coverage within our
geographic area, and stay familiar with all ABL Maritime services
and key deliverables. Additionally, you will manage your chargeable
time effectively to support business's goals. In addition, you
will:
- Attend to casualties, and assess the nature, extent, and cause
of damage.
- Estimate repair costs and compile comprehensive reports for
clients.
- Perform loss prevention surveys, including P&I, H&M,
and pre-purchase assessments.
- Conduct Marine Warranty Surveys.
- Engage in business development activities, promoting maritime
consulting services to local and international clients.
- Ensure sufficient surveyor coverage within the area of
operation.
- Assist in marketing ABL Maritime and its services.
- Maintain billable utilization above 60%.
- Comply with company QHSE policies, procedures, work systems,
and regulations at ABL premises, projects, and client sites.
- Perform other duties as assigned.The role is based in Seattle,
and the candidate should have the right to live and work in the
United States.Flexibility regarding working hours may be required
to ensure regular outreach to local clients / potential clients.
Willingness to travel (including offshore) and work within a
variety of time zones.What we are looking for.We are looking for a
driven and solution-oriented professional with sound technical
skills and good decision-making capabilities. The successful
candidate will have good communication and interpersonal skills,
strong leadership ability, and be able to deal effectively with
multiple issues and assignments simultaneously. In addition, you
will:
- University graduate with surveying experience or Merchant
Marine Academy graduate with seagoing experience.
- 5 years of relevant experience in the maritime sector.
- Hands-on experience with vessel dry docking and machinery
damage/repair assessments.
- Strong decision-making skills, technical expertise, analytical
ability, and sound judgment with a focus on operations.
- Proven ability to deliver accurate, high-quality reports within
deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to
manage multiple issues and assignments simultaneously.
- Highly organized, self-directed, with strong business and
commercial acumen.
- Forward-thinking, ethical, and maintaining a professional
image.
- Outgoing, pragmatic, proactive, and insightful, with solid
management capabilities.
- A team player with excellent verbal and written communication
skills.Desirable:
- Shore-based management experience, preferably in maritime
operations.
- Seagoing experience on tankers or dry cargo vessels.
- Previous experience in a similar role within the maritime
industry.
- Additional experience in ship repair, salvage, or Marine
Warranty Surveys (MWS) is advantageous.
- Desirable experience in maritime surveying or consultancy.
- Previous experience with marine insurance or admiralty law is
an advantage.
- Technical skills with an existing client base and industry
